BDSM on a Budget

(This blog is inspired by my kinky friend @LittleGrrlRed and her blog entry...)

Authentic toys and equipment for BDSM are not cheap.  And since e-Bay are very shitty about letting people sell their gear on there, you're left with two choices.

1) Save up and splash out.

2) Make your own.

Sounds easy. But for the most part, it isn't.  If someone can make a rampant rabbit out of stuff they can get for a couple of quid, then good luck to you.  This blog will show you how you can make perfectly workable BDSM equipment without breaking the bank and more importantly without any DIY expertise.

One piece of equipment I've wanted for a long time is the 'under-bed restraint system' and this is generally sold for between £30 to £40.  The advantage of such gear is, of course, it's easy to carry from place to place (home to hotel, and back) and it works.  It keeps the submissive in a star formation, giving you full access to his/her body front or back.  But when you're on a limited budget, as I am, there will always be something more urgent to buy...

However, if you have a Poundland store near you, then you are in luck.  Currently they're selling little bungee-type cords in their camping sections. Like this:

I picked up five of them.  I also picked up two sets of handcuffs (yes, really, they sell them in Poundland!) and a pack of two twist ties like this (although mine are blue):

The twist ties can go around the ankles or (more effectively) the knees...  And then the cords are hooked in:

The handcuffs are obviously connected to the other cords:

And as you can see, the five cords are intertwined, and locked together:

Granted, they look long but once they are put under the mattress, they are fine.  And because they're elastic, they work under King and Queen sized mattresses too.

Total cost of this?  £8

Additionally you can dismantle the cords and use them for other bondage activities, like tying to chairs.  Or even just have them solely for leg or arm spreading.  Use your imagination!

Another unnecessary expense is/are nipple weights. Most BDSM couples have nipple clamps of some description and I have the good old favourites like these. Less than £8 - bargain.  But trying to find decent weights that a) are cheap, b) can grip the string on the clamps and c) won't be so heavy that they rip the nipple clean off, is very difficult.  And since things like this cost so much just for ONE, it becomes a very expensive kink...

Poundland to the rescue again.

In their gardening section they have butterfly shaped clips that are meant to keep tablecloths being blown off by strong winds, at barbecues and picnics.  But to work they have to be weighted.  And they are quite deceptively hefty little things, but the best part?  You get four in a pack.

So you can experiment with the submissive's pain threshold by adding one... Then two...  As many as you want, depending on how many you buy really.  But trust me, two may well be enough:

 Yes, it grips VERY well....

Total cost for this? £8.99 (unless you buy more of the weights, but that's up to you)

There are other bargains that you can buy off the shelves, like electric fly killers that make fantastically painful paddles and exquisite nipple torturers (but the sub will need a HIGH pain threshold...) but I'll let you find them...

If anyone else has other kit or equipment that they use, made out of ordinary material, I'd love to hear about it...
